Consular Services Provided to Foreigners

1 Visas

- All travelers entering Ethiopia are required to have Ethiopian visa. Accordingly, our Embassy in P. R. China provides visa services for applicants coming from China and North Korea. Applicants in Australia, Malaysia and Singapore as well as in Hong Kong and Macao SARs can get visa service from our Consulate offices in Melbourne, Australia, Singapore as well as Hong Kong, respectively.

- If applicants from Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong prefer to apply to Embassy of Ethiopia in P. R. China the Embassy can also extend visa service.

Note- Ethiopia grants tourist visa on arrival for 32 tourist generating countries. Among these countries, Tourists from P. R. China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and Australia can get their tourist visas on arrival at the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

1. Provide application letter explaining purpose of travel.

· Tourist visa, a copy of round-trip ticket together with employer's acknowledgement letter or letter of invitation from Ethiopia should be attached.

· Business visa invitation letter should be provided from the Ethiopian side. If traveling for first time business investigation, supportive official letter from employer should be presented.

· Transit visa a visa from the destination country should be first secured to get a transit visa.

2-Each Passport should have at least 6-month validity.

3-Visa form should be filled out in one copy. (Form is available in the Embassy's website www.ethiopiaemb.org.cn)

4-One passport size picture should be attached

5- If applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and North Korea prefer to apply to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, application should be sent to the following address:

Visa processing fee and return postage fee should be directly transferred to the Embassy's account through Bank Telegraphic Transfer to the following bank account address:

· Applicants must make sure that all the required Bank Commission should be borne by themselves while transferring the visa processing fee.

· The copy of the Bank Telegraphic Transfer should be sent together with application letter, visa form and passport.

· Return postage fee for Hong Kong and Macao       USD11.00
   Return postage fee for Singapore and Malaysia    USD17.00
   Return postage fee for Australia                 USD22.00
   Return Postage fee for North Korea               USD23.00

· If ordinary registered mail preferred - return postage is done for free

2 Authentication

Chinese, Australian, Malaysian , Singaporean and N. Korean Citizens and permanent residents from these countries could get authentication services from the Embassy of Ethiopia in P. R. China. In addition, for Australia and Singapore, the Consulate General Offices of Australia and Singapore also provide similar authentication services.

i-Types of Authentication and Fees

1- Personal documents(certificates of marriage,birth,death,driver's license,awards etc...)                                  USD72.00

ii- Application Procedure

1. All documents should be, first, authenticated by respective national institutions such as the Foreign Ministries before they are forwarded to the Embassy.

2. Application letter indicating the purpose of authentication should be provided.

3. All documents should be original. If copies must be authenticated the original document should be presented for reference, or the copy should be confirmed by a legal authority.

iii- How to send application from Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and North Korea to the Embassy of Ethiopia in China.

1- Applicants from the above mentioned areas can send documents to be authenticated to the Embassy in P. R. China through the following address :
