A long-standing tradition of painting mostly derived from the church contributes to Ethiopian unique arts work. The famous 'comic strips' presenting the story of king Solomon and Queen Sheba is often associated as a popular miniature of the traditional paintings. Crafts made of engraved woods, such as masks in the southern part of the county; the incredible range and intricacy of cross designs and basket works of Harar region are popular among tourists. Also musical instruments made of string (krar) flutes made of bamboo (washint) and small drum (atamo) are simply some of the variety of traditional musical instruments.
